David’s first cross was in 1958, and his love of daylilies continues unabated. He is perhaps best known for his red and double flowered cultivars, although his two Lennington All American daylilies - MING PORCELAIN and CHORUS LINE were shades of pink. His two Stout Medal award winners – BETTY WOODS, the first double ever to win is a golden yellow, as is his single flowered, BILL NORRIS. David eagerly anticipates the challenge of growing and hybridizing daylilies for northern hardiness. 
Mort Morss began hybridizing daylilies in 1971, and his cultivars are very popular and widely grown. His award winning, first introduction, was named INNER VIEW and it helped launch the popularity of patterned daylilies. Mort’s Lennington All American Award winning PAPER BUTTERFLY was the first widely acclaimed cultivar with a patterned eyezone. His unwavering pursuit of excellence in the realm of patterned flowers has resulted in a disproportionately large percentage of the most coveted patterned eyes and edges by cutting edge hybridizers world wide. Morss. 30'' EE RE EX EV 5 1/2''. Can a daylily get more harmonious
than this? Providing exquisite subtlety, sensational from first-scape-first-bloom,
to last scape-last-bloom, building from the opulently broad form seen
in our photo, to a full rolled back form. The flower is palest alabaster
with a boldly washed, blue lavender eye outlined in amethyst-violet
above a yellow to chartreuse to green throat. An EMO, form is opulent
and tailored, symmetrical, and consistent. The segments begin to roll
back as the season heats up. Texture is smooth, though a beveled midrib
is present. Substance is heavy and holds well in the sun. One of Mort
Morss's primary parents in 2000. Strongly recurrent, well branched scapes.
