+ Barry Goldwater* $200.00
34” M Re Ex Ev 6”. The family of former Senator Barry M. Goldwater selected this stalwart beauty to bear the name of one of the most influential US leaders of the 20th century. According to Mike Goldwater, “most of the males in the Goldwater family are called, amongst their other names, ‘Goldie.’” After years of searching, we have found a reliably formed, blazing, orange-gold and red double of great interest. The clear, brilliantly colored flowers with their rich red eye zones light up the garden. The form is full, peony-(petaloid) style, and the blooms are as deep as they are wide. Both substance and color hold well in the sun and the petals show splashes of red at the margins. The recurrent scapes have widely spaced branching and are profusely budded. It is of medium pod fertility and a great parent for breeding quality doubles. Supply is extremely limited. (Descended from an out cross breeding George Rasmussen’s TIGER PARADE to our LAYERS OF GOLD. Ninety nine percent double.
+ Dagny Hooks* $150.00
28” E Re Ex Ev 6” This beautiful pastel with peach infusion, and lime green throat has a sense of gentle beauty that brings a smile to our lives. It is a full, EMO, petaloid style double, with ruffles on all the extra segments. Both substance and color are good and sunfast. The texture is porcelain smooth and the finish is diamond dusted. The pale orchid midrib bisecting the outer petals adds a touch of subtle beauty. The recurrent scapes have four way branching. Ninety eight percent double.

+ Emerie Baker* $200.00
30” E Re Ex E 5 1 /2”. Our flute playing, daylily-growing friend, Janet Levario, from the Eldorado Hills of California chose this beautiful flower to be named for her mother. The color varies from medium to strongly pastel orchid, depending on the temperature. The form is set off by ornate edges, dripping in diamond-dusted sharks teeth and lace in silver and gold filigree. Although the ornamentation is exaggerated more in extremely hot temperatures, the midsummer bloom in KY was as ornate as we have observed thus far. Usually the form is petaloid type but occasionally there are hose-in-hose style formations as well as combinations of the two styles. The sturdy scapes have three to four way branching with 30 plus buds. Descended from FORTUNE’S DEAREST, and bred with five generations of our doubles. Ninety seven percent double.
+ Truffle Ala Mode* $125.00 24” ML Re Ex Ev 5 1 /2”.
There is a lot going on with this compact plant with the bright rose blooms. Its color is an intense shade of rose and the form is peony style, gently recurved. The petals are uniquely marked with a broad yellow halo, which radiates outward above the bright green throat. The flower’s texture and substance are sound. The recurrent scapes are sturdy, with three-way branching and hold the blooms above the foliage. Medium to reluctant fertility, but well worth the effort. Ninety nine percent double.
+Truffle Nirvana* $125.00
32” EM Re Ex Ev 5”. This is a pastel peach color with a plum eyezone. Variable plum and gold splashed petal margins match the halo, contrasting the throat of yellow-to-green. The form is reliably double and peony in style, with outer petals slightly rolled back. It is very full and framed with wide, overlapped segments. Substance holds well, and the petal texture is smooth and diamond dusted. It is a dependable grower with scapes that are well branched and strongly recurrent. Fertile both ways. David’s first cross was in 1958, and his love of daylilies continues unabated. He is perhaps best known for his red and double flowered cultivars, although his two Lennington All American daylilies - MING PORCELAIN and CHORUS LINE were shades of pink. His two Stout Medal award winners – BETTY WOODS, the first double ever to win is a golden yellow, as is his single flowered, BILL NORRIS. David eagerly anticipates the challenge of growing and hybridizing daylilies for northern hardiness.
Mort Morss began hybridizing daylilies in 1971, and his cultivars are very popular and widely grown. His award winning, first introduction, was named INNER VIEW and it helped launch the popularity of patterned daylilies. Mort’s Lennington All American Award winning PAPER BUTTERFLY was the first widely acclaimed cultivar with a patterned eyezone. His unwavering pursuit of excellence in the realm of patterned flowers has resulted in a disproportionately large percentage of the most coveted patterned eyes and edges by cutting edge hybridizers world wide. The popularity of his cultivars is such that they usually sell out soon after they are offered and are beloved throughout the world.
