MARGARET TUCKER* (Kirchhoff) 32" ML Re Ex VFR Ev 6 ½ - 7". Named for Margaret Tucker a daylily
friend from Jacksonville. Margaret is a gracious hostess, avid daylily connoisseur
and a fine grower of daylilies. She and her grandson Chris, hybridize daylilies
together. MARGARET TUCKER'S blooms are flashes of flaming, brilliant mango, pink
and peach, with lime green throats. They're as giant neon sculptures – immense
and clear. When the nights are quite cool, the outer petals open out flat. As the
temperatures reach into lows in the 70's, and highs into the upper 80's, the outer
petals begin to roll back. Though opening early, there is sunfast color and
substance to spare. Blooms are opulently formed and consistently double in peony
or petaloid style, with plenty of ruffles. The strongly recurrent scapes possess widely
spaced, 4 – 5 way branching. Pollen is very fertile and kids are outstanding. Pods
are difficult, though not impossible. Supply is extremely limited.
