We named 'Bessie Smith' after for a lovely sister of the quintessential daylily connoisseur, Eula Fluellen, of Eula's Roadside Gardens some where around Macon, Georgia. The fabulous 'Bessie Smith' daylily is a cream, peony style double with a compelling red eyezone and touches of red on the border. The yellow to green throat sets it off to perfection. The legendary Bessie Smith was the most famous jazz singer of the 1920’s and 1930.
